Barrie resident and former Catholic school teacher facing sex crimes allegations

A former Catholic board teacher is facing allegations of sex crimes.

According to Barrie police, Stephen Thomas Vincer, 64, was charged on Friday with gross indecency and sexual assault.

Police say it is believed the incidents occurred during the time Vincer, a Barrie resident, was employed as a teacher at Our Lady of Grace Catholic School in Angus, between 1975 and 2017.

The investigation has revealed two alleged victims who were youths at the time of the incidents, according to police.

OPP are also involved in the investigation.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.

Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School officials became aware of the investigation late last week when Barrie police spoke with the principal at the school, according to board director and secretary-treasurer Brian Beal.  (more...)
