Former Ottawa teacher faces 14 sexual assault-related charges involving 4 alleged victims

A 73-year-old former public school teacher in Ottawa is facing 14 sexual assault-related charges involving four alleged victims — three boys and one girl between the ages of 14 and 17 — in the 1970s and early '80s.

Donald Greenham was teaching and coaching for the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board at the time, and in a media release issued Monday, police allege the incidents took place in the course of his duties.

Police did not specify which sport Greenham coached.

Greenham, who still lives in Ottawa, was arrested and charged on Monday with multiple counts of gross indecency, indecent assault on a male and indecent assault on a female. Those are the charges that existed in Canada's criminal code at the time of the alleged offences.

He was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

The investigation into Greenham began in late June when a victim came forward to police. Investigators are concerned there could be other victims, police said.  (more...)
