Arrest of former badminton coach prompts calls to Victoria police

Victoria Police say several more potential victims have come forward with allegations of sexual abuse against a former youth badminton coach.

Earlier this week, police say they charged Harry Charles Sadd, 70, with one count of sexual assault from 1983 and three counts of indecent assault by a male on a male person between 1978 and 1981.

Police said they went public with the case, because they were concerned there could be more victims.

Sadd has previous convictions for sexual assaults involving young male children and teens, police said.

New charges were laid last week after a man came forward to report he was abused in the 1970s at the age of nine.

More people have now contacted police with information to allege sexual abuse dating back decades, said Sgt. Kristi Ross of the Special Victims Unit.  (more...)
