Edufascist Puppet: Union-backed candidate wins TDSB byelection in Scarborough

Oh, what a good boy am I!
Neethan Shan is the Toronto District School Board’s newest trustee, elected by a landslide Monday night in Scarborough-Rouge River.

Insiders had named the union-backed Shan, as well as Sharon Kerr, Jack Wang and Kwesi Johnson as the front-runners in a crowded field — there were 20 in total on the ballot for the Ward 21 (Scarborough-Rouge River) byelection. In the end, Shan took 54 per cent of the 7,826 votes cast, with Wang next with 1,258.

“I am overwhelmed and happy and humbled by all the support,” Shan told the Star by phone after his victory. He thanked the hundreds of volunteers who helped him during his campaign and said he will, over the next couple of days, “reach out to the trustees and chair and get to work.”

The byelection, at a cost of $250,000, was held to replace Shaun Chen, the former board chair who was elected MP last fall for the federal Liberals.

During the byelection campaign, candidates took part in just one debate, and otherwise relied on door-knocking and their websites to get their platforms out.  (more...)

He stuck in his thumb, and pulled out a plumb.
