Are we near a zero faith tolerance in Canada's public square?

With the recent election of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his Liberal Party, here's an important question that Canadians should ask by way of analysis: will faith no longer be permissible in the public square? Trudeau made it mandatory that to run as a candidate for his party, one needed to be for abortion, same-sex "marriage" and euthanasia. Party loyalty comes first. In short, there would be no room for a free conscience vote on any of these  issues. How can this position be possible in a democratic country?

The Trudeau government has a majority in the House of Commons, but does this mean that it should legislate whatever it wants because it has the power to do so? Does power alone make any decision right? Are questions of human rights, family life, work, poverty, the political community, foreign policy, the promotion of peace and the environment to be settled by human beings alone? Has God and one's conscience nothing to contribute?  (more...)
