Ex Dragons' Den star who once acted as an adviser to Prime Minister David Cameron appears in court charged with child sex abuse

A former Dragons' Den star and economic adviser to David Cameron has appeared in court accused of having sex with a 13-year-old girl.

Technology entrepreneur Doug Richard, 57, who appeared in the first two series of the BBC show Dragons' Den, is charged with three counts of sexual activity with a child and one of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

The charges relate to one alleged victim - a 13-year-old girl - and are alleged to have occurred in January this year.

Appearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court today, the multi-millionaire spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address.

He is yet to enter pleas but has previously denied the allegations.  (more...)
