New sex assault charges against Toronto teaching assistant

A Toronto teaching assistant who already facing numerous charges of sexually exploiting a disabled Scarborough student was in court Wednesday facing new accusations of sexually assaulting another disabled boy.

Patrick Persaud, 58, of Toronto, appeared in court Wednesday accused of the sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a person with a disability dating to 2013. The allegations involve a 17-year-old-boy residing in the GTA.

“Kids with disabilities can’t necessarily come forward themselves. The administrative body of the home alerted police,” said Sidhu.

“I can’t say how he (Persaud) had access to the home, but he had permission to be there.”  (more...)
