MPP accuses premier of hiding sex-ed details

MPP Monte McNaughton
Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton is accusing Premier Kathleen Wynne of trying to hide the contents of a new sex education curriculum to be introduced in Ontario schools next September.

McNaughton pressed the premier to reveal details of the sex-ed curriculum during Question Period at in the Ontario Legislature on Tuesday.

“Why don't you simply release the details of the proposed changes to the sex education curriculum now?” the MPP asked Wynne. “What are you trying to hide?”

Proposed changes to the sex-ed curriculum came under fire back in 2010 when Wynne was Minister of Education. It was delayed by then-premier Dalton McGuinty after parents complained their children would be introduced to explicit information at too young an age. This included having Grade 1 students introduced to the proper names of genitals and the curriculum proceeding to cover such topics as masturbation and oral and anal sex by Grade 8.  (more...)
