Redford ‘shocked and disappointed’ at Allen’s hooker bust; no longer a member of caucus

PREMIER ALISON REDFORD AND MIKE ALLEN SPEAK TO REPORTERS AT THE JUBILEE CENTRE

EDMONTON - Alberta Premier Alison Redford went from hot cakes to the hot seat as she took the opportunity at her government's pancake breakfast in Edmonton Thursday to address the prostitution scandal involving former caucus member Mike Allen.

Redford said she was "shocked and disappointed" to learn of Allen's arrest and quickly took the opportunity to distance her government from him.

"In terms of that MLA's conduct, it is more than inappropriate. I was disgusted by it," Redford said.

Allen was arrested Monday in St. Paul, MN, where during a governmental visit to discuss cross-border trade, police say he propositioned an undercover officer posing as a prostitute.

"It's not at all the standard of conduct that I expect from anyone in our caucus. He is no longer a member of our caucus," Redford said.  (more...)
